the Board of Trustees is made up of ordinary members of North Staffs Users Group and it directs what goes on in the organisation
it can have between 5 and 15 members who are elected to serve for one year and who may stand for re-election at the Annual General Meeting
the Board of Trustees raises money, decides how the money is to be spent, buys equipment, employs staff, sets up sub-committees to work on particular areas of work
you will be supported by the Director and other staff to ensure that you have all that you need to understand the workings of the organisation and information to help you make decisions
members of the committees also support each other
travelling expenses are paid
a subsistence allowance can be paid for any volunteer work that is more than three hours.
other expenses may be paid by arrangement with the Director.
Job Description
be part of taking group decisions about the organisation, its future and direction
attending Board of Trustees' meetings
reading papers relating to the meeting in advance so that the items can be discussed and you can air your opinion on the matter
you might have to vote on items where agreement isn’t reached.
Training
Core Training, as this gives you helpful information about the organisation and its history
there will be training provided about what it means to be a trustee of an organisation and your responsibilities.
you will also have training on organisational finances.
How much time would I be expected to give?
meetings are currently held each month and last for 2 hours
you will need to read all of the paperwork before the meetings and attend training throughout the year
you are also expected to try to keep up to date with information about how to be a good trustee and this may take some additional reading.
